TikTok Jumps Into Microdrama With 'TikTok Drama' Casting Call
The platform is casting soap-opera-style vertical series that blend social virality with short-form serialized storytelling.

TikTok is jumping headfirst into microdrama.
The platform is casting for a project branded TikTok Drama: soap-opera-style vertical series that could blend TikTok’s native virality with the serialized, cliffhanger-driven storytelling of the microdrama apps.
Why it matters
TikTok is where the vertical audience lives. Every major microdrama platform spends heavily on TikTok advertising to drive installs. A scripted product built inside TikTok itself removes the middle step: the viewer who discovers a series in the feed does not have to download anything to keep watching.
The casting call is the first concrete sign of an in-house scripted strategy. Later moves, a Hoorae partnership and a standalone paid app called LimeShorts, confirmed the direction.
For performers
A TikTok casting call reaches more performers than any traditional breakdown service, and it reaches them where they already have audiences. The association’s interest is in the terms that follow. A platform with TikTok’s scale sets expectations for the whole format. If TikTok Drama pays day rates, delivers footage and respects likeness, the rest of the industry will feel the pressure to match. If it does not, the association will say so.
The microdrama gold rush just leveled up.
