Self-Tape Studio: An AI Reader That Is Ready When You Are

Upload your sides, choose your role and start reading. The association's self-tape tool removes the scheduling problem from audition prep, with a free first week.

Your next audition should not depend on someone else’s schedule.

Self-Tape Studio, the audition tool built within the association’s casting exchange, gives actors a reader that is ready whenever they are. Upload your sides, choose your role, and start reading. The studio casts every other character in the scene and reads opposite you, on cue, while you tape.

The problem it solves

The self-tape has become the default first round for most casting, vertical and traditional alike. It has also shifted a cost onto actors: finding a reader. That means begging a friend, paying a coach for a session that is mostly line-feeding, or taping alone and reading both parts.

For vertical actors, who may be submitting for several roles a week, the reader problem is a volume problem. The studio removes it.

How it works

  • Paste or upload your sides, including PDF and Final Draft files.
  • Pick the character you are reading for.
  • Tape. The reader comes in on cue for every other line.
  • Trim, slate and export in the same place.

The first week is free, with no card required. After that, paid plans are priced to sit alongside the other tools in a working actor’s kit rather than replace a coach.
