ReelShort Commits to 400 New Vertical Series in 2026, All Shot in Los Angeles
The platform's production commitment is more original scripted content than most networks make in a decade. Leads earn $600 to $1,000 a day; seasons shoot in seven to ten days.

Four hundred shows. One year. One platform.
ReelShort has announced it will produce four hundred vertical drama series in 2026, all filmed in Los Angeles. That is more original scripted content than most traditional networks produce in a decade, and it is being made in a single city by a company that did not exist five years ago.
The production model
The numbers behind the commitment are the format’s economics in miniature:
- Lead actors earning 600 to 1,000 dollars a day.
- Supporting roles booking five to seven projects a month.
- Full seasons shot in seven to ten days.
At that pace, four hundred series is roughly eight shooting every week of the year, each with its own cast and crew. Los Angeles has the stages, the vendors and above all the performers to sustain it, which is why ReelShort is not shooting anywhere else.
What it means
This is not a side-hustle format anymore. By volume of production, vertical is among the most active scripted sectors in entertainment right now, and ReelShort’s commitment makes it the single largest employer of working actors in the city on a day-rate basis.
The association’s question is the one that comes with any employer at this scale: on what terms? Six hundred dollars a day for a lead who carries a full season in a week is a rate that deserves comparison with what the same performance would earn elsewhere. The association is building the standards, credentials and infrastructure this industry needs so that comparison can be made in the open. Are you in it?
