Microdrama Apps Overtake Netflix and Disney+ in Daily Time Spent
The format's apps now command more daily minutes than the two largest streaming services. It is the clearest sign yet of where mobile attention is going.

Microdrama apps have overtaken Netflix and Disney+ in daily time spent.
On the metric that every entertainment company says it cares about most, the amount of a viewer’s day it occupies, the vertical format’s apps are now ahead of the two largest subscription streaming services in the world.
Why the number matters
Daily time is the foundation of every revenue model in entertainment. It drives subscription retention, advertising rates and, in vertical’s case, the per-episode payments that make up most of the format’s income. A viewer who spends more of the day inside a microdrama app than inside Netflix is a viewer whose attention has moved.
The gap reflects how the products are built. Netflix and Disney+ are destinations. Microdrama apps are habits, opened the way any feed is opened, with episodes short enough that there is always time for one more.
The association’s read
This figure, more than any revenue or user count, explains why every major studio has entered the format in the months since. They are not chasing vertical’s money, which remains small by their standards. They are chasing its minutes.
Those minutes are built on performances. The engagement that makes vertical valuable is engagement with faces and stories, made by a workforce that the format has not yet treated as a profession. The association exists to change that, and the daily-minutes figure is the argument for why it matters now.
